Laird Labs / Heartwood
Heartwood Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 12, 2026
Heartwood is provided by Laird Labs. This policy explains what the app handles and how it is used.
Focus And Garden Data
Heartwood stores focus sessions, garden progress, tree care, rewards, inventory, preferences, and local app state on your device. Local data remains on your device unless a feature explicitly asks you to share or export it.
HealthKit Movement Features
If you grant Health permission, Heartwood reads step count on device to unlock optional water and fertilizer rewards. During a Garden Walk, Heartwood also reads walking-speed samples for the active session and may use step count when speed coverage is sparse. Heartwood does not write to HealthKit, sell Health data, use it for advertising, or send HealthKit movement data to Laird Labs or RevenueCat.
Health Permission And Control
Health access is optional. You can review or revoke Heartwood's access at any time in iOS Settings or the Health app. Features that do not require Health data continue to work when access is denied or revoked.
Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple and entitlement status is checked through RevenueCat. Heartwood may receive product identifiers, entitlement status, transaction timing, and customer identifiers needed to unlock purchases. Heartwood does not handle payment card details.
Service Providers
Apple independently determines how it handles purchase and App Store data under its own privacy policy. RevenueCat processes purchase and entitlement data on Heartwood's behalf. Laird Labs requires service providers that handle app data on its behalf to protect that data consistently with this policy and applicable law.
Notifications And Photos
Care reminders are scheduled as local notifications after permission is granted. Heartwood requests photo library add access only when you choose to save an exported time-lapse video.
Diagnostics
Heartwood stores limited diagnostic and analytics events locally to help identify reliability issues. These local records are not sent to Laird Labs. Apple may provide aggregated crash information when a device owner has chosen to share diagnostics with app developers through iOS.
Retention And Deletion
Focus, garden, preference, and diagnostic data stays on the device until the app or its data is removed. You can delete that local data by deleting Heartwood from the device. Purchase records and subscription status are retained by Apple and RevenueCat under their respective policies. Contact Laird Labs for help with a privacy or deletion request involving support correspondence.
Support Correspondence
If you choose to email Laird Labs, we receive your email address, message, and any device or app details you voluntarily include. We use that information only to answer your request, troubleshoot Heartwood, address security issues, or fulfill a privacy request. We retain it only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or as required by law, security, or dispute-resolution obligations, then delete it. You may request deletion of support correspondence at the address below.
