Laird Labs/Tightlines: Fly Fishing AI

Tightlines Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 9, 2026

Tightlines: Fly Fishing AI is provided by Laird Labs. This policy explains what the app collects, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Data You Provide

Tightlines stores the fishing records you create, including catches, trips, session events, notes, photos or videos, custom fields, saved spots, fly-box information, voice recordings and transcripts, and preferences. Core records created in account-free mode are stored on your device unless you later sign in and use backup.

Account-Free And Network Features

Account-free mode does not create a Tightlines cloud account, but online conditions, river search, recommendations, app updates, and diagnostics may send a search term, selected water, location, target species, successful fly patterns, app installation identifier, and technical request information to provide those features. Saved records and trip packs can remain available offline.

Accounts And Backups

If you sign in, Supabase stores account identifiers such as your name, email address, provider identity, and user ID. Signed-in Premium accounts can store fishing rows and selected media in the Tightlines Supabase project. The app may also perform a quiet backup over Wi-Fi when new catches exist and the previous backup is at least one day old. This is backup and restore, not continuous multi-device synchronization.

Location, Weather, And Water Data

Tightlines requests location only while the app is open and after permission is granted. Precise or coarse location can be used to mark catch spots and load nearby weather, tide, streamflow, water, and recommendation data. Location and request information may be sent to the providers needed to return results. Background location tracking is not enabled in the v1 release.

Voice Journaling And AI Providers

Recordings remain local drafts until you choose Transcribe and confirm they may be sent for processing. Tightlines uses Deepgram for speech-to-text. Deepgram model-improvement use is disabled for Tightlines requests. Tightlines stores the transcript, parsed fishing fields, duration, provider, model, source, and quota or usage information under your user ID.

Purchases And Identifiers

Subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed with RevenueCat. Tightlines and RevenueCat receive a persistent app user identifier, product identifiers, purchase and entitlement history, and subscription status. An anonymous RevenueCat identifier may later be linked to your signed-in user ID. Laird Labs does not receive payment card details.

App Updates And Diagnostics

Expo Updates checks for app updates using an installation identifier and may transmit app, update, device, and update-error information. Sentry diagnostics can include app version, device information, error details, feature context, performance measurements, and the signed-in user ID or email when available. This is used for app operation and reliability, not advertising.

Sharing, Tracking, And Advertising

Tightlines shares data only with providers that operate app functionality, including Supabase, RevenueCat, Expo, Sentry, Deepgram, and weather, water, tide, streamflow, map, and recommendation providers. Tightlines does not sell personal data, use advertising SDKs, show targeted ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.

Security And Retention

Network requests use HTTPS. Cloud backup data uses project access controls and private media storage. On-device data remains until you edit it, delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Cloud data is retained while your account is active unless deleted. Providers may retain limited operational, billing, security, fraud-prevention, legal-compliance, or diagnostic records under their own policies and Laird Labs agreements.

Your Choices And Account Deletion

You can deny location, camera, microphone, or photo access and still enter logs manually. You choose whether to sign in, back up, or send a recording for transcription. Account deletion in Settings removes the Supabase auth user, associated cloud rows, Tightlines entitlement links and webhook event records, private uploaded media, and local app data. It does not cancel a store subscription. People who used Sign in with Apple can separately remove Tightlines under Sign-In & Security at account.apple.com.
